Walkden has the perfect start for you, if you wish to join the Armed Forces post-16. Our Combined Cadet Force can give you an insight into what military life is like, as well giving you the skills and training to evidence your interest. You will be able to make a strong application post-16 if you have had Combined Cadet Force experience.

There are lots of opportunities in the armed forces and its a lot more than war. Did you know the armed forces also:

  • Protect the UK boarders;
  • Work to prevent conflicts;
  • Deal with disasters, both nationally and internationally.

There are many roles you can take on in the army too. All recruits are trained as soldiers, but did you know you can also get a degree in Engineering or Logistics whilst in the Army? Even better, the armed forces pay for your degree, meaning you do not have any debt and you are paid whilst you learn. Job roles include:

  • HR Specialist;
  • Radiographer;
  • Musician;
  • Carpenter and joiner;
  • Surveyor;
  • Chef.

If you are Year 10 or 11 are interested in learning more about a career in the Army, you can to organise a meeting with a member of staff from the Army Careers office in Bolton. See Ms Loughnan to book one.

You can also make you own appointment at a recruitment office for the Army, Navy or Air Force.
