Careers Programme

Here at Co-op Academy Walkden, we have a stable careers programme which we think should be shared with everyone involved. Our programme is embedded within the school. It is planned using the Gatsby Benchmarks – national quality markers for good career guidance. Everyone can access to our plan below.

Co-op Academy Walkden, in the first instance, measures and assesses its career programme against the Gatsby Career Benchmarks.  The impact of its programme is assessed through monitoring and evaluation of the programme, which takes place in a number of ways on an ongoing basis, including:

How the school measures and assesses the impact of the careers programme on students
  • Destination data and outcomes
  • Pupil reflection and evaluation forms
  • Pupil engagement with strategic CEIAG resources
  • Feedback provided by teaching or support staff
  • Parent/carer surveys and feedback
  • Feedback from visiting speakers and external partners

The CEIAG programme is also assessed in relation to other parts of the curriculum and other policies so that Careers education is conducted in accordance with the School’s equal opportunities policy, work experience policy, external visits policy and other relevant policies. The whole school remit of careers is recognised and the whole careers related curriculum is currently being developed alongside that of other areas so that careers education is an integral part of the whole school curriculum.
