I have been teaching since 1998, and Co-op Academy Walkden is my third school. I previously worked in Hattersley for five years and then Moss Side for a further seven. I never planned a career in teaching, but when I failed an eye test to join the RAF as a pilot, I saw teaching as another career where I could make a difference.

My role is to ensure high standards of attendance, behaviour, and well-being amongst our students. In short, I make sure that we have the right conditions for teachers to teach great lessons. I believe in tough love for our students. It is only right that we should have high expectations of everyone. No student should be allowed to damage their classmates’ chances of success. Teenage years can be challenging for youngsters, so they need firm but warm guidance from adults to keep them on track.
