Growing up, my goal was always to become a teacher; so, after completing my degree in English Language and Linguistics at The University of Sheffield in 2014, I returned home to Manchester to complete my PGCE. 

I spent the first seven years of my career at a school in Bury before moving to Co-op Academy Walkden in 2022 as Head of English; I then progressed to my current role of Associate Assistant Principal for Literacy in 2024. My determination to remove literacy barriers and demonstrate the transformative power of reading has been central to each of these roles. In my current role, I am dedicated to ensuring that every student at Co-op Academy Walkden has a confident command of the English language, in both its written and spoken forms, to enable them to be active participants in our academy community and beyond.
